About the SessionFurther afield, the vintage also achieved greatness in classic regions such as Burgundy, Bordeaux, Tuscany and Piedmont. 2015 was an excellent year as Europe had an intensely hot summer and many regions were affected by drought. Although the top wines are still young, the sale offers a range of attractive buys that are ready to be enjoyed.
About this Item
In 1880, a 22-year-old Joseph Drouhin settled in Beaune and founded his own wine company. His son Maurice succeeded him and established a domaine for the Drouhin house by buying land in outstanding appellations including the famous Clos des Mouches and Clos de Vougeot. Today, 4th generation Véronique Drouhin continues the family’s prestigious Burgundy legacy. With 73 hectares of biodynamically-farmed vines, Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy’s largest estates. With vineyards in close to 90 different appellations, Drouhin offers a fascinating array of Burgundy terroirs.

Critics Ratings
‘This is polished and expressive, featuring blackberry, blueberry, graphite and spice flavors. Rich, yet fluid and fresh, with a firm backbone of tannins for support. Shows fine lift and length on the spice- and mineral-tinged aftertaste. Best from 2023 through 2042.’ - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 93/100 (May 2018)
‘A discreet application of wood easily allows the elegant and beautifully layered red berry fruit, floral and anise-scented nose to shine. The mouth feel of the equally refined medium-bodied flavors is sleeker than that of the Vosne, indeed this is silky and with more minerality as well on the saline and impressively persistent finish that is very Chambolle in character. This is a most impressive villages and highly recommended. 2022+’ - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com,
‘The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Village has an attractive bouquet with black plum, undergrowth and wilted violet scents. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, smooth and harmonious, not enormous weight but nicely controlled and sensual on the finish. It gives you just about all you seek in a village cru level Chambolle. 2018-2026’ - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate (Dec 2016)
‘Healthy bright red. Reticent scents of pomegranate, cranberry, minerals and spices display lovely subtle floral lift. Supple, broad and fresh but perhaps a bit youthfully sullen today, not currently showing the energy or cut of the Vosne-Romanée. But this wine boasts solid concentration and length, finishing with chewy tannins. The Drouhins blended a bit of their Chambolle-Musigny Les Haut-Doix into this village wine but no Les Baudes, as that premier cru was made on its own in 2015.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous (Dec 2016)
