2015 Vintage

Timed Online Auction, 28 February - 10 March 2025

2015 Vintage - International
About the Session

Further afield, the vintage also achieved greatness in classic regions such as Burgundy, Bordeaux, Tuscany and Piedmont. 2015 was an excellent year as Europe had an intensely hot summer and many regions were affected by drought. Although the top wines are still young, the sale offers a range of attractive buys that are ready to be enjoyed.

About this Item

2015 Moulis
3 (1 x 3) 750ml

Anthony Barton's new venture in Moulis promises to be a big favourite amongst the legion of Barton devotees. Previously called Chateau Mauvesin, the estate dates back to 1457 and once held Cru Bourgeois status. Lilian and her husband will live in the beautiful Lodoïs Leblanc Chateau with the previous owner’s very elderly mother (one of the terms of the sale). The Bartons have already made considerable investment and will no doubt bring all their wine making savoir faire to this new acquisition.

Critics Ratings

‘The fifth vintage from this estate since its purchase by the Barton family of Léoville Barton in Saint-Julien, this is a generous, structured wine. It has ripe black fruits in profusion that are held together by the serious layer of tannins. Rich and concentrated, the wine will age for many years.’ - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 93/100 (Apr 2018)

‘Spices and berries with cedar and sandalwood. Medium-bodied, focused and very fine. Shows tension and focus.’ - James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, 92/100 (Feb 2018)

‘The 2015 Mauvesin Barton is beginning to fulfill the promise it showed from barrel. Black cherries and strawberry define that somewhat plush but focused nose. The palate is medium-bodied, supple and balanced with a smooth sheen on the long finish. This is well worth seeking out. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.’ - Neal Martin, Vinous, (Jan 2019)

‘Light, fresh and aromatic. Relatively light-bodied. Pretty and very round on the palate but then a little inky on the end. 2021-2029’ - Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, (Apr 2016)
