Restless River Ava Marie Chardonnay 2014
'Adds vineyard name. 2014 advances even on fine 2013 (4.5 stars, 93 pts). Understated oak, expressive fruit and a combo of delicious, supple generosity (even in youth) and tight, mineral restraint. Subtle, succulent intensity, long finish. 13% alcohol. These also in larger formats.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2017, 5* (95 pts)
Restless River Main Road & Dignity Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
'Previously just with variety name. 13 poised, lively & delicious, after slighter, greener 12 (4*). One of the Cape's more characterful & elegant cabs - properly dry, fresh & under 14% alcohol. Balanced, charming & ripe, though some find it too herbal.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2017, 4.5*
'Craig Wessels is the only person to have made a success of stand alone Cabernet Sauvignon in the Hemel-en-Aarde region, but what a triumph this is. Leafy, herbal. Poised and cassis scented, with finely judged tannins and oak, refreshing acidity and a long, tapering, stony finish. Drink: 2016-22' - Tim Atkin SA Special Report 2016, 95/100
Restless River Le Luc Pinot Noir 2017
'The 2017 Le Luc Pinot Noir is 20% whole-bunch-fermented. It has a wonderful bouquet, pure and refined, featuring red cherry, cranberry and rose petal aromas that gain intensity with aeration. The medium-bodied palate delivers supple tannins, a svelte texture, fleshy, dense cranberry and crushed strawberry fruit and a slightly bitter-edged finish. This is as delicious as it is fascinating.' - Neal Martin, Vinous, 92/100 (Oct 2019)
'This is the second usable crop from this 1.3-hectare vineyard, but the first release. It's a very promising wine from young vines, showing scented, rose petal and lily aromas, smooth red berry fruit and supporting acidity. One to keep an eye on. 2019-24.' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2019, 93/100
