A Chinese famille-rose jardinière, Republic period, 1912-1949
rectangular with rounded corners, one side enamelled with a small bird perched on sprays of blossoms and fruit, the other with a pheasant perched on a bamboo branch with sprays of blossoms, alternating with panels of black-painted character script and iron-red seal marks, all below a band of scrolling foliage against a turquoise ground with a pink spearhead border below, the rim enamelled with four sprays of flowerheads, raised on four bracket feet, iron-red seal mark, 23,6cm wide; and another, the octagonal body with tapering sides enamelled with four panels enclosing sprays of blossoms, a bird and foliage, interspersed with smaller similar panels, against an orange ground with gilt line work, with waisted rim, raised on bracket feet, iron-red four-character seal mark, some wear to the enamels, 20,6cm wide
