A Japanese tea caddy, by Juzan zei, Meiji period, 1868-1912
rectangular, each side enamelled with sparrows amongst blossoms and bamboo, maidens in conversation with little boys playing on a bridge, one standard with script mark, a dwelling before a mountainous landscape and three maidens before a pagoda in conversation with an attendant and a child amongst maple trees and foliage, all within diaper bands, the shoulder enamelled with various butterflies, with gilded neck, the cover enamelled with a phoenix amongst clouds enclosed by a diaper border raised on a low base with bracket feet, four-character Juzan sei seal mark, restoration to the cover, 12,9cm high
