Notes
The artist Jean Lurçat is credited with reviving traditional French tapestry techniques as a fine art medium in the twentieth century. He was associated with Renoir and Cézanne and exhibited with Matisse, Picasso, Braque, Derain and Dufy in New York in 1932. Other examples of his work can be seen in France at the Museum of Jean Lurçat and Contemporary Tapestry, Angers, and the Atelier-Musee Jean Lurçat, Saint Laurent Les Tours, as well as at the Jean Lurçat Museum, Eppelborn, in Germany.
