The present lot is part of Linda Waber’s ongoing Studio Drawing cycle, which began in 1982. Since then, she has drawn in over 390 artist studios across various countries, including those in Europe, China, Japan, Oman, Yemen, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and numerous studios in South Africa – primarily in Cape Town and its surroundings – during visits in 2010 and again in 2015.
Following a studio visit with Goldin in 2010, Waber organised an exhibition in Goldin’s honour at the Künstlerhaus in Vienna to celebrate her 90th birthday – a gesture she believes brought Goldin great joy. The studio drawing from that year captures the many objects and details that surrounded Goldin in her creative space.
