Notes

"In 1967 [the year the present lot was painted] Page was courted by art dealer Linda Goodman and moved to her Goodman Gallery in Johannesburg. Author and critic Esmé Berman also purchased his work at this time and featured him in her book Art and Artists of South Africa. He has also started to market through the reliable and committed Cape Town art dealer Joe Wolpe [...] Observation suggest that Page's images tend to be owned by people who acquire them for their idiosyncratic qualities and for their peculiar take on life."1
