About this Item

1996 Griotte-Chambertin
1 (1 x 1) 750ml

Domaine des Chézeauxin, the largest owner of Griotte-Chambertin, was established by the Mercier family and dates back to 1928. With no winemakers in the family, the Mercier family leases their vineyards to other vignerons and have never produced wine themselves from the Griotte vineyard. Their leasing agreements ensure that they, in return, get wine from the vignerons which are then sold under their own label.

Critics Ratings

‘This possesses an exceptionally attractive nose that displays a lovely mix of primary and secondary fruit, spice and soft earth nuances. There is fine detail to the middle weight flavors that possess plenty of energy and a hint of minerality on the slightly skinny finish that is starting to dry out even if only slightly. As a consequence I would suggest drinking this up sooner than later as the dryness risks becoming more pronounced with age.’ – Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 88/100 (2011)
