About this Item
A Saint Julien Second Growth, Chateau Gruaud-Larose has the ability to produce First Growth quality wine but is not well-regarded for consistency. The 1961, 1982 and 1986 remain some of the most remarkable Bordeaux wines of the era. With unique clay soils, Gruaud Larose requires decades of aging to show its best and hallmark elegance.

Critics Ratings
'(a blend of 60% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, 7% cabernet franc and 3% petit verdot): Ruby with a pale rim. Rich, ripe nose offers red cherry, plum, spice, mineral and violet aromas. Dense, chewy and fresh, with precise, intense red and black fruit flavors complicated by a hint of licorice. Features a persistent saline note on the rich, long, slightly chunky finish. A very successful Gruaud.' - Ian D'Agata Vinous.com 91/100 (2013)
