About this Item
Domaine Lafarge, located in Volnay, was established in the 18th century and has remained in the family since. Michel Lafarge joined the family business and began working with his father in the late 1940s. Michel was a pioneer in biodynamic viticulture in Burgundy and also one of the first to start bottling his wines for export. Today Lafarge is managed by Michel’s son, Frédéric, and is known to produce some of the most sought-after Volnay wines.

Critics Ratings
'The 1999 premier cru Volnay courtesy of Michel Lafarge is a beautiful Pinot Noir. Slightly paler in color compared to other 1999 Burgundies, it has an ethereal bouquet that is utterly entrancing: fleeting hints of peppermint, Morello cherries and plum, the summer warmth seeping through. The palate is medium-bodied with an appealing fleshy entry, nicely judged acidity and an elegant finish that does not short change you on flavor. This feels as if it is peaking now, but I suspect it will continue giving pleasure over the next decade. Drink now-2024.' - Neal Martin Robertparker.com 92/100 (2014)
