About this Item
Dating back to 1741, Château L’Évangile is one of the oldest properties in Pomerol. It was founded by the Léglise family, under another name, and was renamed at the start of the 19th century when the estate was sold to a lawyer. In later years it passed into the Ducasse family who restored L’Évangile to its former glory after the damage caused by the frost in 1956. Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) acquired L’Évangile in 1990 and created Blason de L’Évangile as a second wine.

Critics Ratings
'Dark ruby-red. Deep, inviting aromas of sappy berry liqueur and truffle. Lush, silky and sweet, with expressive flavors of blackberry, currant, truffle and chocolate nicely framed by harmonious acidity. The most classically Pomerol of these three vintages, but also has solid underlying structure. The broad tannins spread out to coat the palate on the suave, subtly gripping finish.' - Stephen Tanzer Vinous.com 92/100 (2004)
