Two lacquered papier-mâché boxes, Kholui, Russia, 20th century
each rectangular-shaped, one painted with a scantily clad girl ironing her dress, enclosed by a gilt border, the sides with gilt cross-work, the other painted with two seated girls each holding a posy observing a pair of goldfish in a bowl, against a mother-of-pearl ground, enclosed by a gilt border, raised on incorporated bracket feet, each with Cyrillic inscriptions, the larger 5cm high, 19,1cm wide, 15,2cm deep; and another, ovoid, painted with a young girl holding an umbrella and walking beside a St Bernard, enclosed by a gilt border, raised on incorporated bracket feet, with Cyrillic inscription, 5,7cm high, 13,4cm wide, 10,8cm deep
