Two lacquered papier-mâché boxes, Fedoskino workshop, Russia, 20th century
each rectangular, one painted with a portrait of Tsar Nicholas and his wife Alexandra, enclosed by a black border, the sides and reverse marbled with gilt highlights, the other painted with a wedding scene, enclosed by a black border, the sides painted with gilt flowerheads and foliage, raised on four rounded feet, each with Cyrillic inscriptions, the larger 5,1cm high, 11,3cm wide, 15,6cm deep; and another, oval-shaped, painted with the Kremlin, with gilt highlights, raised on a wavy incorporated base, with Cyrillic inscription, 6,3cm high, 11,2cm wide, 13,2cm deep
