About this Item
“What I enjoy most about winemaking is you get dealt the cards, and you don’t really know what you are going to get – it’s all up to nature. So you can either have a great year or a not-so-great year, but it’s what you make of it.” - Warren Ellis
100% Tempranillo
• Tempranillo is old and believed by many to be the wine depicted in the Bacchus mural that serves as proof of wine in ancient Spain, linking Tempranillo to the Phoenician settling of the Iberian Peninsula as far back as 1100 B.C.
• Although it is a medium-bodied wine, it has incredible tannins which give it its incredible ability to age.
• Historically, this was the first single varietal Tempranillo to have been sold on the auction.
Tasting Notes: A subtle nose reflecting dark and red cherries, violets, herbs, and tobacco leading into a leathery finish. The palate is dense and complex, packed with dark berries and plum which unfold with great length, freshness and balance, followed by fine, dry, yet smooth tannins.
50 cases of this wine were sold on the 2021 auction.
Optimal drinking now, and for the next 15 years.
