Critics Ratings
'Last made in 2012, as with Steepside. 2014 has the lighter colour of the two, brighter herbal and lily notes. Also fresh and light-feeling on palate, with enlivening acidity, engaging tannins and succulent subtly sweet fruit. Most of these wines were aged in only older oak barrels.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2017, 5*
'Topside is located on sandstone soils on the Stellenbosch Mountain. "Always a charmer", as winemaker Alex Starey puts it, this is clove and white pepper scented, focused and well balanced. A bit of whole bunch fermentation adds another dimension to the sweet violet, raspberry and bramble favours. Drink: 2017-23.' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2016, 95/100
