Literature
"From the mid-1930's Ercole Barovier generated new designs at a prodigious rate. Autumno, Laguna, and Marina Gemmato (1935-6) were inspired by gemstones and and were coloured burnt gold, azure, and deep blue respectively. In these pieces, Barovier used the technique of colorazione a caldo senza fusione, meaning "colouring the glass while hot without melting" which involved sprinkling coloured glass fragments or powdered enamels on to the marver and then collecting them on the molten gather, producing glass with a speckled appearance."
Lesley Jackson, 20th Century Factory Glass, Rizzoli International Publications, New York, 2000, p 26
