About this Item
Since 1981 Eikendal Vineyards has belonged to the Saager family, who originate from Switzerland. Eikendal is situated in an ideal location, on the slopes of the Helderberg mountain near the Atlantic Ocean. This mountain and maritime microclimate provides ideal conditions for the vineyards on the 76-hectare Eikendal property. According to the Cellar Master, 'the magic has always been in the terroir' and, therefore, Eikendal follows a minimal intervention approach in their winemaking.

Critics Ratings
‘Strength of Merlot evident in 2014 (50% with 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot). Brings plushness, grandeur to this flagship; other components add the structure, precision and ageing potential. Amazing poise, freshness for 15% alcohol.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2017, 4.5*
‘The new vintage of Classique, made mostly from Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, is the best yet. It’s an ambitious, stylish, abundantly aromatic wine with very fine tannins, leafy, spicy, dark berry fruit and hints of cedar wood and fresh pine. One of the Cape’s best Bordeaux red blends. Drink: 2018-27.’ - Tim Atkin SA Special Report 2016, 95/100
