Fine Wine
About this Item
Haskell Vineyards graces the slopes of the Helderberg mountain range in Stellenbosch, an area known as the “Golden Triangle”, widely recognized as one of South Africa’s finest wine-growing sub-regions and home to many of South Africa’s top wines.
In 2002, American/Russian property tycoon Preston Haskell IV purchased the farm Dombeya (originally part of neighbouring Rust & Vrede) and renamed it Haskell Vineyards. Shortly thereafter, Rianie Strydom joined Haskell as Winemaker and GM, and soon became the first woman to be offered membership of the Cape Winemakers Guild.

Critics Ratings
‘Brambly fruitcake abundance on the 2009 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with seasoning of Petit Verdot and Shiraz. Succulent and lithe yet concentrated and deep. Focused and structured, with a firm core that needs time to yield a little.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2015, 4.5*
‘Bright deep ruby. Musky aromas of red- and blackcurrant, licorice, dusty herbs and minerals. Densely packed and vibrant, with sweet, brambly berry and tobacco flavors framed by harmonious acidity. Finishes firmly structured, juicy and long, with a fine dusting of tannins. A classic, traditionally styled red blend, evolving slowly and gracefully.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 90/100 (Jun 2015)
