About this Item

2005 Baron Edmund
4 (1 x 4) 750ml

Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons was established in 1997 under the leadership of Dr. Anton Rupert and Baron Edmond de Rothschild. The men later handed over the reins to their respective sons: Anthonij Rupert and Baron Benjamin de Rothschild. Few SA wine brands have been able to penetrate the premium global market quite like R&R with their distinctive Bordeaux-style blends from the Cape.

Critics Ratings

‘Pretty notes of black-and blueberries, dark roast coffee and scorched earth on the Cabernet Sauvignon-based ‘05, with 32% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. Fresher and more restrained than extracted ‘04, with 18 months in new oak well absorbed.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2010, 4.5*

‘The 2005 proved excellent, more savoury than sweet and showing balance and finesse. A blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, it spent 18 months in 100% new oak. Alcohol by volume only 13.5%, which serves the wine well.’ - Christian Eedes, WineMag.co.za (May 2011)
