About this Item
Founded in 1682, Rustenberg Estate on the Simonsberg foothills is one of the most historic and picturesque farms in South Africa. The farm was previously split into two estates, until 1945 when industrialist Peter Barlow purchased both farms and reunited them. Rustenberg is family-owned with son of Peter Barlow, Simon, owning the estate and grandson, Murray (2 x Diners Club Young Winemaker of the Year) now cellar master.
This site-specific Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the oldest vineyard on the estate, high up on the Simonsberg. It is truly one of South Africa’s best Cabernet Sauvignons and has the track record to age for decades.

Critics Ratings
‘2013 shows more primary fruit, but perhaps less intensity of flavour than previous vintages, and the structure dominating. Nonetheless, also grand.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2018, 4.5* (93/100)
‘Big, bold, serious and built to age in bottle, this is a compact, weighty Cabernet Sauvignon with 70% new oak, firmish tannins and a core of dark damson and cassis fruit complemented by notes of mocha, coffee bean and refreshing acidity. 2020-28.’ - Tim Atkin SA Special Report 2017, 92/100
