About this Item
With a rich and eventful history stretching back to the 12th century, Château d’Arsac is one of the oldest properties in Médoc. Taking its name from the commune in which their vineyards are planted, Arsac, the estate’s exceptional gravel and sandy soils producefine Bordeaux reds. After the phylloxera crisis, a period of abandonment, the WWII and several decades of neglect, the property was purchased by Philippe Raoux in 1986. Raoux fully renovated the château and replanted over 100 hectares of the estate's vineyards to Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. In 1995, Raoux’s work was rewarded when 54 hectares of these vines regained their Margaux appellation status, while the rest classified under the renowned Haut-Médoc appellation.

Critics Ratings
‘Deep inky red colour; the nose is earth, savoury, blackcurrants, liquorice, alongside black cherry, and almost a toasted rosemary note. The palate is elegant, with dark chocolate, black fruit, thickly structured yet sweet, powdery tannins. The fruit is wonderfully ripe with a surprising concentration, much denser than expected with decent length. Smart wine.’ - CellarTracker.com, 90/100 (Jun 2020)
‘This seductive sleeper of the vintage exhibits a sweet perfume of licorice, black cherries, herbs, earth, and spring flowers. Its lovely texture, beautiful purity, and long finish suggest this unusually seductive 2005 can be enjoyed over the next 12+ years.’ - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 90/100 (Apr 2008)
