About this Item

2001 Pauillac
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Chateau Lynch Bages, a Fifth Cru Classé, is one of the best-known Médoc estates and has always had a particularly strong following in Britain. The Pauillac producer is considered classically styled and long-aging. Since 1973 it has been owned by the enigmatic Jean-Michel Cazes and is now run by his son, Jean-Charles.

Critics Ratings

‘Delightful cedar, bay leaf and savory notes lead off while the core of currant and blackberry fruit has moved into a secondary phase. The bay leaf and cedar elements hold a slight upper hand through the finish, giving this a pleasantly rustic hint. Drink now through 2025.’ - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 91/100 (Dec 2017)

‘Quite dark crimson. Very rich and seductive on the nose. Some evolution and lots of burnt mineral aromas. Lifted and fresh on the finish. But not angular and awkward. Actually rather racy and refreshing after the opulent nose.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (Mar 2012)
