Inscribed on the reverse: "Collaboration painting begun by Robert Hodgins and completed by Jan Neethling"

Robert Hodgins and Jan Neethling met at art school and Robert’s tongue-in-cheek comment about Jan at the time was to enquire what a young man was doing at College wearing garage pants – denim jeans – when the dress code was strictly suit-and-tie for both students and lecturers. This detail of dress indicated something of the irreverent attitude towards convention that became the hallmark of both artists throughout their careers.
