the lobed body with six repoussé panels, the first with a scholar, his acolite and young attendant viewing a scroll with script before trees and a vacant shield-shaped cartouche, enclosed by five alternating panels embossed with birds amongst chrysanthemums, peonies, bamboo and iris against a stippled ground, raised on six linked winged inverted bats, dents, splits, 22,5cm diameter, 600g
