About this Item
A partnership between cousins Bruwer Raats (a Strauss auction favourite) and Gavin Bruwer Slabbert who are on a pursuit to discover unique parcels of vineyards that 'celebrate the rich heritage of the Cape' with heirloom varieties like Hanepoot (Muscat d'Alexandrie), Chenin Blanc and of course home-grown Pinotage. The philosophy behind the craft is a lightness of touch that expresses the unique identities of these special sites.
The Cape of Good Hope is the home of Pinotage. In the 1920's, the love child of Pinot Noir and Cinsault was born. Pinotage is of immense importance to winemaking in South Africa, authentically African and part of our country's rich and diverse heritage. We are now allowing the variety to express itself, without limitations. The Liberté Pinotage is from certified old vines in Stellenbosch.
Winemakers personal tasting note:
'Elegance, freshness and finesse are key, however still maintaining proper concentration. Fresh red fruits, purple flowers, herbs, spice and earth, give layered complexity. The palate follows through with fruit concentration, fine dense and structured tannin, with wonderfully fresh acidity.' - Gavin Slabbert
