About this Item
Ex-Wine Cellar Young Gun, Bryan MacRobert, cut his teeth at The Sadie Family Wines in the Swartland and Terroir al Límit in Priorat in the late 2000s. In 2010 he bottled the first vintage of his own wines under the Bryan MacRobert Wines label. Bryan’s wines were pioneering and played an important role in the repositioning of the Swartland as a fine wine region. Through his travels, Bryan met a ‘Riojan’ winemaker, fell in love and moved to Rioja in 2013. He started Laventura – ‘The Adventure’ – and has been shaking up the heavily traditional Rioja wine scene ever since.
Bryan MacRobert Wines are no longer produced, making these wines highly sought after.

Critics Ratings
'The 2012 Tobias Red is an equal blend of Mourvedre, Shiraz and Cinsault and includes both destemmed and whole bunch clusters, fermented in concrete vats and matured in used oak. It has an exquisite floral bouquet with bright red berry fruit, crushed rose petals, hints of marmalade and cloves. The palate is very well-balanced with a succulent entry matched with fine acidity and a supremely elegant finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is a beautifully understated but complex Swartland red. '– Neal Martin for Wine Advocate, 93/100
'Made in thirds of Shiraz, Cinsault and Mourvèdre, all from the Swartland. Fermented in cement tanks and aged in old French oak. Luminescent ruby red in colour. Pure red fruit leaps from the glass. Added savoury complexity of forest floor evolves in the glass with time, which adds complexity. The palate is still remarkably fresh and pure and carries the 14% alc. very well. A wine that draws you back into the glass after every sip. Certainly at its peak, but enough life to last another good 5 years.' – Wine Cellar (August, 2020)
