About this Item

2016 Nom Pinot Noir
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Nom stands for nombulelo (gratitude in “Xhosa”) and Nomkhubulwane (a forgotten African goddess of agriculture). Situated at 700m altitude, the vineyard is a place where gratitude is instilled and tales appear.

Winemakers personal tasting note:

'The wine shows red cherry fruit, strawberries, spice, fresh moist forest floor, “garrigue” (wild herbs) and a slight umami savour. On the pallet it offers juicy fine tannin with a silky finish. It drinks beautifully now. Only five barrels produced. Drink now – 2025.' - Jessica Saurwein

Critics Ratings

Saurwein mentioned on the cover page of January’s Decanter issue amongst:

    • “Very pale Pinot but not in the least pale in flavour. Bursting with cherry juice, enriched with cocoa and fine herbs. Long, juicy finish. A very popular style.” - 92/100 points Sarah Jane Evans MW
    • “Gentle pomegranate aromas. Quite lean and tart cranberry and sour cherry fruit on the palate, with high acidity and a leafy edge. Firm, subtle and savoury.” - 90/100 points Tina Gellie
