Back Story: The hair art piece was created during level 5 lockdown. I wanted to encourage people to stay at home as advised and also inspire them to create. I customised a mask and made the headpiece with hair extensions and beads. The safety pins earrings are a symbol of 'keeping safe'.
This image was submitted to Stilled Life, a community photographic platform launched to give South Africans a place to share their Covid-19 stories, and has been selected as one of the top 100 images that will be on view at the 2020 RMB Turbine Art Fair. The proceeds of the sale of this lot will benefit the BASA Artists Relief Fund.
