Notes
Norman Lighton qualified and worked as an architect, but in 1936, while employed by the South African Department of Public Works, he was seconded to the Transvaal Museum in Pretoria to illustrate The Birds of South Africa, written by Dr Austin Roberts (1940). Some of Lighton's original artworks can be found in the collection of the Brenthurst Library in Johannesburg.
