About this Item
Straddled between the Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountains, with less than 30 hectares of scattered high-altitude vineyards, Keermont was started by the Wraith family in 2003 and was formed by combining 2 adjacent farms. Relaxed yet quality-focused Alex Starey has been in charge of the wines since redevelopment and planting in 2005, producing the maiden 2007.
Pondokrug – a ridge (rug) deriving its name from a shepherds hut (Pondok).

'One of the younger wines in the Keermont portfolio - it was first made as recently as 2014 - this is at the firmer end of the Cabernet Franc spectrum, which is why Alex Starey says it needs "a week in a decanter to open up properly". Floral, dense and focused, it has stylish oak, layers of cut grass and damson fruit and a fresh finish. 2022-28' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2020, 94/100
'The 2016 Cabernet Franc Single Vineyards Series Pondokrug has a fragrant bouquet of pressed iris petals, brown spices and just a touch of shoe polish. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. This is quite a rich Cabernet Franc, and I would like to see more varietal character toward the finish. But it should age nicely in bottle. - Neal Martin, Vinous, 91/100 (Apr 2021)
