'Elegant, stately 2018 follows illustrious record with heady aromatics woven into generous, refined tropical fruit. 50% older-barrel-fermented fraction rounds out rich and plush texture, adding body and mouthfeel. Outstanding.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2020, 4.5* (94 pts)
'Three parcels, all of them at least 45 years' old, make up the blend of this egg, oak and stainless steel fermented Chenin from the Polkadraai Hills. Wet stone, beeswax and lime flavours mean that this is almost Riesling like in terms of weight and acidity. 2019-25.' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2019, 93/100
'The 2018 Old Vine Chenin Blanc has a clean, crisp bouquet displaying quite a prominent stoniness that lends a sense of reserve. The palate is well balanced with good weight and intensity on the entry, and lightly honeyed with a touch of spice toward the sappy finish.' - Neal Martin, Vinous, 92/100 (Apr 2021)
'As I put my nose in the glass of the 2018 Old Vine Chenin Blanc, I was instantly struck by its focus and precision. A beautiful floral bouquet followed by rich apple and zesty citrus bursts from the glass. On the palate, the wine has a soft minerality with a slightly underripe pineapple note, juicy yellow apples and Meyer lemons, ending with crisp acidity. There is a soft phenolic grip that is evident on the finish.' - Antony Mueller, Wine Advocate, 90/100 (Oct 2019)
