About this Item
In 1994, when he was only 23 years old, Jean-Marie Fourrier took over his family domaine. He had been working on the family estate since 1989, while also completing internships with Henri Jayer and Domaine Drouhin Oregon. Jean Marie's winemaking philosophy closely mirror's Jayer's – making great wines begins in the vineyard. He works hard to maintain healthy vines and practices extremely natural winemaking techniques. Today, Domaine Fourrier holds vines in a few of Gevrey Chambertin’s top vineyards, where most vines date back to the beginning of the 20th century. His most famous holdings, resulting in 'cult wines', are the ones in Griotte Chambertin and Clos St Jacques, which were planted between 1902 - 1910.

2009
'Like the villages Chambolle, this possesses an ultra elegant and pure nose of restrained red pinot fruit, stone and a hint of anise that is also reflected by the generous yet quite precise middle weight flavors that evidence ample mineral influence on the naturally sweet, sappy and impressively enduring finish.' - Allen Meadows Burghound.com 90-93
‘The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Gruenchers bursts from the glass with a head spinning exotic bouquet that melds seamlessly into layers of dark red fruit. The wine covers every inch of the palate with its superb texture and generous fruit. This turns surprisingly dense and muscular with air, suggesting it has the structure to be a long distance runner. The driven, powerful finish is fabulous. Drinking window 2019 - 2029.’ – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 93+/100 (May 2011)
2010
'This is both ever-so-slightly riper and a bit more aromatically complex as well with pure red pinot fruit that is liberally laced with stone and anise nuances. The rich and supple flavors are supported by phenolically ripe tannins that are almost invisible thanks to the high level of dry extract that imparts a velvety mouth feel to the beautifully well-balanced finish. A Chambolle of refinement but there is no lack of grip here and this should amply reward at least a decade of cellar time '- Allen Meadows Burghound.com 90-93
The 2010 Chambolle-Musigny Les Gruenchers boasts a highly expressive bouquet redolent of sweet red berries, flowers, tar and incense. There is an exotic quality to the Gruenchers that is immensely appealing. Layers of fruit build towards the textured, enveloping finish graced with a last burst of explosiveness. This is impressive juice. Drinking window 2018 - 2028.’ – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 92-94/100 (Feb 2012)
2011
‘The 2011 Chambolle-Musigny Les Gruenchers boasts a serious core of fruit. Dark red berries, freshly cut flowers, sweet spices and mint are all layered together in this rich, sumptuous Chambolle. Deep, resonant and beautifully textured, the Gruenchers impresses for its balance and total harmony. A crystalline, saline-infused finish rounds things out in style. This is a striking Chambolle. Drinking window 2015 - 2023.’ – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 90-92/100 (Mar 2014)
