About this Item
Gilles Jayer started working with his father, Robert, in 1982. Both he and Robert, were well known for their use of significant new oak, even for their entry-level red bottlings. The Jayer vineyard holdings includes Nuits-St-Georges Les Hauts Poirets, Nuits-St-Georges Premier Cru Les Damodes and half a hectare of Echézeaux. Mid-2017, Swiss pharmaceutical magnate André Hoffman purchased this Burgundian estate with the idea that Gilles would continue to run the property and the winemaking until he was ready to retire. However, Gilles sadly passed away in January 2018. Today, Alexandre Vernet, who had previously worked at Domaine Germain for 12 years, is the new winemaker for the property.

Critics Ratings
‘The 2009 Echézeaux is racy, opulent and bursting with fruit. Today the Echézeaux looks to be accessible relatively early. Layers of ripe, candied fruit flow across the palate to the round, caressing finish in this beautiful, highly expressive Burgundy. Drinking window 2017 - 2029.’ – Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com, 94/100 (Apr 2012)
