Critics Ratings

2008

'A discreet touch of wood frames strikingly complex, ripe, fresh and quite densely fruited earth suffused red pinot aromas that lead to rich, full-bodied and textured flavors that exude an overt muscularity on the equally explosive finish where the integrated tannins confer a dusty mouth feel to the moderately austere finale. This is an extremely impressive effort but note that even more patience will be required. Drink 2023+.' - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 94/100 (Jan 2011)

2009

'A discreet touch of wood spice adds aromatic breadth to the very fresh, earthy and reserved red berry fruit nose that also offers up a suggestion of the sauvage that carries over to the rich, powerful and admirably concentrated big-bodied flavors that culminate in an impressively long, energetic and youthfully austere finish. This is a big and muscular but not rustic example that will require plenty of cellar time, in fact so much so that I have extended my expected drinking window as a result. Drink 2029+.' - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 95/100 (Nov 2013)

2010

'An earthy, pure and magnificently complex nose of a ripe combination of wild red berry fruit, discreet spice and earth notes plus an undertone of sauvage is trimmed in discreet but not invisible wood treatment. There is also plenty of earth on the rich, full-bodied and overtly powerful flavors that possess excellent volume. This is a very serious example of the appellation as the supporting tannins are decidedly prominent, indeed to the point that the strikingly long finish is distinctly austere yet there is no detectable rusticity. A classic Clos de Vougeot that will require at least 15 plus years of cellar time. Drink 2025+.' - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 94/100 (Jan 2013)
