About this Item

2007 - 2010 Echezeaux
4 (4 x 1) 750ml

Domaine Dujac was established in 1967 by Jacques Seysses when he purchased Domaine Marcel Graillet, a poor estate of only 4.5 hectares, and renamed it Domaine du Jacques. Overtime, the name evolved into Domaine Dujac – a playful moniker. Today, they hold around 14.5 hectares and cultivate 18.5 hectares in total. Buying parcels as they became available, the domaine expanded over the years and now owns some of the most exceptional holdings, including the Grands Crus of Echézeaux, Bonnes-Mares, Clos Saint Denis, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Charmes-Chambertin and Clos de la Roche. Aiming for elegance, finesse and complexity, the quality of their seven Grands Crus is a testament to the domaine being one of the Burgundy’s leading producers.

Critics Ratings

2007

Pomegranate and red raspberry set the tart, bright, yet ripe themes for Dujac’s 2007 Echezeaux, with vanilla, ginger spice, sage-like pungency, and cherry pit piquancy lending stimulating complexity to fruit of surprisingly liqueur-like sweetness and creaminess of texture, yet strongly lingering brightness. This is so ravishing now there’s no need to wait, but I would not be surprised to see it continue on excellent behavior for another 4-6 years.’ – David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, 92/100 (Jun 2010)

2008

‘Dujac’s 2008 Echezeaux displays a cool, aloof flavor personality, featuring lightly-cooked yet somehow crisp-edged red fruits, high-toned herbs, and elusive suggestions of salt and peat. These traits are beautifully complimented by subtly soothing creaminess of texture and tannic tenderness for a very Dujac-typical performance. Ravishingly long and refined, this represents a sort of alter ego to the collection’s Malconsorts, yet possessed of its own vibrant inner-energy. Look for a dozen years’ pleasure and intrigue.’ – David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, 93/100 (Jun 2010)

‘An unusually high-toned nose of red berry fruit, earth and an intriguing mix of spice elements that include clove, anise plus a note of hoisin complements well the rich, full-bodied and velvety flavors that also have an inherent exoticism, all wrapped in a mouth coating, pure and focused finish that delivers both excellent length as well as a seductive mouth feel. I particularly like the underlying sense of tension. Drink 2023+.’ – Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 93/100 (Jan 2011)

2009

The 2009 Echezeaux is another inward wine. With time in the glass, some of the layers of fruit begin to flesh out, showing the depth I sensed when I tasted the wine from barrel. There is plenty of elegance and finesse, although today the 2010 appears to be more promising by a touch. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2039.’ – Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com, 94/100 (Apr 2012)

2010

‘The 2010 Echezeaux fleshes out beautifully on the palate with layers of seamless, totally integrated fruit. All of the elements meld together with supreme grace, making it hard to pick out the specific components. A deep, implosive finish laced with dark fruit, cassis, spices and minerals stains the palate. This is a fabulous showing. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2040.’ – Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com, 94-96/100 (Dec 2011)

‘A spicy, pure and lilting nose of impressively concentrated black berry fruit and warm earth aromas slides gracefully into equally dense, serious and mouth coating big-bodied flavors that possess excellent phenolic maturity before culminating in a delicious, focused and exquisitely balanced finish. The tannins are firm yet fine and seamlessly integrated with the mid-palate and finish that lingers and lingers. Drink 2025+.’ – Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 92-94/100 (Jan 2012)
