A & J Zimmerman Ltd

Birmingham, England

A&J Zimmerman was a British silverware company founded in 1879 by Arthur S. Zimmerman and John Ulrich Zimmerman. The company became a limited entity in 1902 and operated until 1930. With workshops in both Birmingham and London, and a London showroom, most of their pieces were assayed in Birmingham. The firm specialized in small, simple silverware items, such as photo frames, boxes, vesta cases, and inkwells, often incorporating compasses or clocks to add value. The company’s most successful period was between 1890 and 1910, and despite the limited historical records, the quality and craftsmanship of their silverware continue to endure.
