Henry Matthews

Birmingham, England

Active: 1894-1930

Henry Matthews was a Birmingham-based silversmith who first registered his mark in 1894. His office was located on Vittoria Street, a well-known part of Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. Matthews is particularly remembered for his small, finely crafted silver items that demanded great attention to detail. His works included hair-brushes, cigarette cases, photo frames, hat pins, card cases, and buttons, among other items. In 1930, Henry Matthews ceased production, marking the end of an era for the renowned silversmith.
