Roberts & Belk Ltd

Sheffield, England

Roberts and Belk, originally established in Sheffield in 1810, was a well-respected manufacturer of silver, electro-plate, and table cutlery. Over its long history, the company evolved, beginning as Furniss, Poles & Turner, later transitioning to William Briggs and then Roberts & Slater before becoming Roberts & Belk in 1863. The firm continued under this name until 1901 when it was incorporated as Roberts & Belk Ltd. In 1961, the company was acquired by C. J. Vander, a London-based silversmith. Throughout its active years, Roberts & Belk was known for producing high-quality goods, with a focus on design and craftsmanship. The business was managed by notable figures, including Walter Belk, who played a pivotal role in its legacy before its eventual closure in the 2000s.
