Walker & Hall

Sheffield

Walker & Hall, established in 1845 by George Walker in Sheffield, began as a pioneer in electroplating after Walker’s apprenticeship with Dr. John Wright, who had conducted key experiments in the field. In 1853, the company became Walker & Hall when Henry Hall joined the business. Over the years, the firm expanded globally, opening branches in cities such as London, Liverpool, Melbourne, Cape Town, and Auckland, becoming a key player in the international silverware market. The company became a limited liability entity in 1920 and merged in 1963 with Mappin & Webb and Elkington & Co. under British Silverware Ltd. Today, Walker & Hall remains a part of Mappin & Webb Ltd, continuing its legacy of high-quality craftsmanship.
