Bélair-Monange

France - Bordeaux

For over two centuries Bélair-Monange was owned by the Canolle de Lescours family. It then passed into the hands of the Dubois-Challons. Local wine merchant and visionary, Jean-Pierre Moueix had long been fascinated by Bélair and, convinced that it was one of the most promising terroirs in Saint-Émilion, he took over the wine distribution during the 1960s. In 2008, his son and grandson acquired Château Bélair and renamed the estate ‘Bélair-Monange’ in memory of Jean-Pierre’s mother, Adèle. Today, Château Bélair-Monange is a 23.5-hectare estate with vines planted in some of the most exceptional terroirs in Saint-Émilion. Jean-Pierre predicted Bordeaux’s Right Bank potential back in the 1930s and devoted his career to promoting the region’s wine. He contributed to the global recognition that Pomerol and Saint-Émilion enjoy today.
