Brunello di Montalcino

The Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona estate is located on the south-east slope of the municipality of Montalcino, close to the medieval village of Castelnuovo dell’Abate. The estate has origins dating back to the 17th century. In 1985, the estate was bequeathed to Giuseppe Bianchini by the countess Elda Ciacci who had no children. Giuseppe had been the farmer of the estate for many years, applying a completely new philosophy to wine production, increasing quantity and quality, and opening up to export across the world. Giuseppe unfortunately passed away in 2004, leaving the estate to his son and daughter, Paolo and Lucia. Today, the entire property extends over 220 hectares, of which 55.5 hectares are planted to vines. 53 hectares are devoted to Sangiovese Grosso, from which they produce their Brunello di Montalcino, together with small plots of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
