d'Arsac

France - Bordeaux

With a rich and eventful history stretching back to the 12th century, Château d’Arsac is one of the oldest properties in Médoc. Taking its name from the commune in which their vineyards are planted, Arsac, the estate’s exceptional gravel and sandy soils producefine Bordeaux reds. After the phylloxera crisis, a period of abandonment, the WWII and several decades of neglect, the property was purchased by Philippe Raoux in 1986. Raoux fully renovated the château and replanted over 100 hectares of the estate's vineyards to Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. In 1995, Raoux’s work was rewarded when 54 hectares of these vines regained their Margaux appellation status, while the rest classified under the renowned Haut-Médoc appellation.
