L'Arrosée

France - Bordeaux

Château L'Arrosée owns 10 hectares of vines in the western region of the Saint-Émilion ‘côtes’. One of its earliest owners, Pierre Magne, was Finance Minister to Napoleon III. The vineyards are planted to 55% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Cabernet Franc. At harvest, the grapes are hand-harvested and then fermented in concrete vats. The wine is aged in 100% new oak for 12 months before being bottled (unfined and unfiltered). Since 2002, the château has under the proprietorships of Roger and Jean-Philippe Caille. Château L'Arrosée is unusual in that the wine includes an atypically high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon for the appellation,’ writes Decanter.
