Potensac

France - Bordeaux

Château Potensac is one of the leading Cru Bourgeois estates located between the villages of Blaignan and Ordonnac in Médoc. With 50 hectares of vineyards Potensac is a large property. The estate has been in the same family since time immemorial and has always been handed down by women. The current owner, Jean-Hubert Delon, inherited the estate from his paternal grandmother, Georgette Liquard. Although close to the river, Potensac is situated on a high point of land in North Médoc. Because of this position, the site has been populated since ancient times. The name ‘Médoc’ comes from ‘medio aquae’ which means ‘in the middle of the waters’. Planted on the best quality soils, the vineyards 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc) now extend over 60 hectares. During harvest, the grapes at are hand-picked and vinified in a combination concrete and stainless steel. The wine is matured in small oak barrels (20% new) for 14-16 months.
