Marion Dixon
Senior Art Specialist
Marion Dixon possesses that rare combination of extensive corporate experience and practical expertise in art collecting and curating. After a successful 25-year career with multi-nationals as a corporate communication and public relations specialist, Marion completed a Master’s degree in art history (awarded with distinction) at the University of the Witwatersrand, in 2009. Marion then embarked on a career as a freelance art consultant and curator, consulting for private and corporate clients including FirstRand Bank.
Marion’s interest in art is longstanding. Between 1995 and 1997, she studied art history at the University of South Africa, augmenting the scope of her existing Bachelor of Arts (English and German) degree from the University of Natal, Durban. She curated the exhibition ‘Water: The [Delicate] Thread of Life’ at the Standard Bank Gallery in 2011, and presented a series of well-received talks at the Standard Bank Gallery for the bank’s flagship French and international exhibition ‘20th Century Masters: The Human Figure’, in 2012.
Marion was curator of the Constitutional Court Art Collection before joining Strauss & Co in 2016 as a Senior Art Specialist. Two years ago she relocated to Stellenbosch where she represents the company in the Winelands and her reach extends to Paarl, Franschhoek, Somerset West and Hermanus. Marion is qualified to address any enquiries related to Paintings, Watercolours, Drawings, Prints and Sculpture on behalf of Strauss & Co.
