A pair of Japanese cloisonné enamel vases, Meiji period (1868-1912)
ovoid with a square neck, each decorated with a cockerel before a fence with flowering hibiscus and chrysanthemum, the reverse with a chick and mon, against a turquoise-green ground, the neck rim and upper shoulders with a pair of contesting dragons, the footrim with a foliate-diaper border, blue enamel interior, 30cm high
