About this Item

NV Vin du Paradis Brut

Champagne de Venoge is a leading Champagne house, founded in 1837 by the Swiss expatriot Henri-Marc de Venoge in Mareuil-sur-Ay. It was the first Champagne house to produce an illustrated label. Known for being the champagne of Sarah Bernhardt and the Countess of Segur, today, the numerous awards obtained perpetuate and confirm the quality of its champagnes. The House of De Venoge has one of the most important wine libraries in Champagne.

Critics Ratings

'With the reproduction of the original label dating back to 1864 (the first colour label in champagne and, probably in all of France), the Dry de Venoge has rejuvenated a blend of pinot noir, balanced by a touch of chardonnay and pinot meunier to which a 20 gram/L dosage of sugar is added. There is plenty of fine continuous mousse and a bright pear, honey, citrus, leesy, green apple nose. The entry is fresh and lively with some sweetness but nice acidity. Ripe apple, honey, citrus, toasty flavours with a somewhat sweet, honeyed finish. Elegant, balanced, sweeter style that will appeal to many new to champagne.' – Anthony Gismondi, Gismondionwine.com, 90/100 (Oct 2012)
