About this Item
Champagne Gosset is arguably the oldest house in Champagne. It was founded in 1584 in Aÿ, just outside of Reims, by Pierre Gosset who began making still red wines in bulk. In the mid-18th Century the Gosset family discovered bubbles in their wine as it began to ferment in bottle and, since then, Gosset Champagne has been almost continuously produced.

Critics Ratings
‘Slightly high-toned, oak-spicy aromas of pine, orange oil and tangerine. Urgent and highly concentrated; still an infant but already shows superb oily ripeness. Comes across as less full than usual for Gosset due to the bracing acids of the vintage, but this has outstanding extract and layered texture. Explosive, near-painful finishing fruit stains the palate with ripe citrus oil flavors sharpened by powerful but harmonious acidity.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 94+/100 (Nov 2000)
‘All Gosset bottles, copies of ancient designs, are so elegant. It is appropriate that this Millésime should equal the elegance of the bottle. It is soft, full and ripe, flavored with green plums and kiwi fruits and with a touch of spice. It could still age, but is fresh and delicious now.’ - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 90/100 (Dec 2004)
‘Very distinctive, this malt- and bread dough-flavored bubbly is accessible and rangy, despite a lively acidity that expresses a chalky sensation on the finish. On the dry side, it shows personality, tending toward a nutty aftertaste. Drink now through 2008.’ - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 90/100 (Nov 2004)
