About this Item
Based in Reims and established in 1760 by Francis Delamotte, Maison Lanson is one of the oldest Champagne houses and has maintained their family traditions, values and independence for 260 years. The origin of the Lanson Cross dates back to 1798, when the founder's son, then a member of the Hospitaller’s Order of Malta (the oldest charity worldwide), decided to utilise the Maltese Cross to fashion the emblem of Lanson. The house is best known for its Black Label cuvée and its prestige release, the Clos Lanson, but also produces a Brut, Blanc de Blancs and a Rosé. The range is topped by a trio of Noble Cuvée wines, made from selected Grand Cru vineyards.
Disgorged September 2018.

Critics Ratings
‘Disgorged in September 2018, this is in the full splendour of maturity, balancing developed aromas of brown butter, brioche and white mushroom with an exuberant depth of fruit. The flavours hover between fresh and dried notes of citrus, rhubarb and nectarine, showing great finesse, as well as a subtle, nuanced complexity. Nearly half of the blend is Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs villages of Avize, Cramant, Chouilly and Le Mesnil, which is evident in the wine’s intense undertone of chalky salinity, while the remainder is made up of Pinot Noir from Verzenay, Verzy and Bouzy. It remains vibrant and energetic, turning fresher as it sits in the glass, and finishes with outstanding length, feeling satisfying, harmonious and complete.’ - Peter Liem, Decanter.com, 96/100 (Jul 2021)
‘Bright yellow straw colour. More reticent nose than the 2005. Lots of creamy vitality with a hint of lemon pastilles. The fruit is just starting to fade but there is admirable punch. Intense.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Jun 2019)
